2025 CREATORS LAB
“Participating in SFBATCO’s Creators Lab was one of those rarified experiences that seem to exist only in legend. For months I was given the logistical, practical and financial support to work on a new play. SFBATCO invested in my story in a way that uplifted both my experience as an artist and as a community member. Getting the chance to see my play brought to life by a talented director and cast during the New Roots Theatre Festival was an invaluable experience that I’ll never forget.”
The Creators Lab is SFBATCO's incubation space for the development of original theatrical works by emerging creatives. The Lab is a writing cohort and workshop series that will operate in a virtual/in-person hybrid model.
Led by Aidaa Peerzada, Playwright and SFBATCO’s Literary & Outreach Manager. The Lab is focused on Emerging to Mid Career writers who have a new play in the making, which they are ready to take to the next stage of development. We’re thrilled to continue this program for a fourth year in a row!
This fall/winter program is a creative space for expanding concepts or first drafts into scripts ready for professional workshops or productions.
All participants will receive a $500 stipend for their participation. After the development process, participants will have an opportunity to present a staged performance or reading of their piece with actors at a public showcase.
